Software developer MIXLAND has introduced its latest plugin, 3348 TAPE, an emulation of the renowned 3348 digital tape machine. Designed to integrate seamlessly into digital audio workstations (DAWs), this new plugin offers producers and audio engineers a new tool to explore harmonic distortion and tonal shaping inspired by vintage digital tape technology.

The plugin builds upon MIXLAND’s prior work in analog emulation, bringing an updated approach to sonic coloration. Users can expect a range of features catering to both subtle enhancements and dramatic sound design applications.

Emulation of Seven Machines

In addition to replicating the sound of the 3348 digital tape machine, MIXLAND’s plugin includes six other modeled AD/DA converters. Each mode is designed to deliver distinct tonal characteristics, offering flexibility for diverse production needs. From the precision of the 3348 to the vintage warmth of the X80, the plugin presents options for crafting unique sonic textures.
